February half term will be here before you know it so I thought I would pull a little What’s on Guide together so that you can find some inspiration quickly if you would like to keep your family busy over the holidays or need to get out of the house! Don’t forget its Shrove Tuesday and Valentine's Day during half term so that might be one activity to do with your family during the week.
Saturday 10th February 2018 – Sunday 18th February 2018 – The Museum of English Country Life, Reading. Explore the museums new galleries, have a go at the trails and have a go at handling museum objects. Visit the museum website for times, prices etc.
Tuesday 13th February 2018 - Launchpad Pancake Day Race is an event which has been run on Broad Street in Reading for over 20 years. Any proceeds from the day go towards preventing homelessness in the town. This year the race runs at 12.30pm on 13th February 2018. The teams dress up in fancy dress and there is space for 36 teams to enter. I have not been but imagine this is great fun for the kids to watch.
Tuesday 13th February 2018 - Maidenhead Pancake Day Race, King Street, Maidenhead. The race is now in it's 11th year. Watch the teams race up the street, flipping their pancakes as they run. The race starts at 12.30pm.
Tuesday 13th February 2018 – Reading Abbey Fun Day at Reading Museum. The museum is celebrating the opening of their new Reading Abbey Galley as part of the preparations leading up to the opening of Reading’s Abbey Ruins during Summer 2018. The Fun Day will include dressing up, handling artefacts from the Abbey, meeting a medieval monk, badge making and so much more. Visit the museum website for times, prices etc.
Wednesday 14th February 2018 – Make and Take Medieval Tile Decorating at Reading Museum. Using inspiration from the museum, design your own tiles with ceramic pens that would look perfect in Reading Abbey. Visit the museum website for times, prices etc.
Thursday 15th February 2018 and Friday 16th February 2018 - Family Bird Watch in the Great Park, Windsor. Time 10am - 2pm, £4 (booking is essential), a family event for parents and children between 4 years - 11 years. For more details visit Windsor Great Parks website.
Saturday 17th February 2018 – Why not go and get involved in the Chinese New Year Celebrations taking place in Maidenhead to celebrate the Year of the Dog. At 1pm the traditional lion dance will leave the Boy and the Boat statue on the High Street. The lion dance will be performed by Eagle Claw Kung Fu School UK. There will be activities between 11am – 3pm and there is free lantern making at Nicholson Centre. For more details visit EnjoyMaidenhead.
