AD – Review // Giggling Squid, Windsor

Berkshire Mummies was delighted to be invited to try out the Giggling Squid in Windsor. It was a chance for us to review the Giggling Squid’s biggest menu change to date after visiting the Wokingham restaurant back in 2018. Our meal at the Wokingham restaurant was incredible so we were excited to be invited back. We went to the Windsor restaurant early evening, mid week and were given the chance to pick our table, the restaurant is set over a number of levels with floral decor throughout, it’s a beautiful environment next to Windsor Castle. Whilst we were perusing the menu we enjoyed some prawn crackers, which we believe are always a must at the Giggling Squid! For our eldest (our youngest is a babe in arms) we selected two…

AD – Review // SUUM Vietnamese Kitchen, Marlow

Having never eaten Vietnamese food, being invited to SUUM Vietnamese Kitchen in Marlow to try out their new menu seemed like a great opportunity for our family - we enjoy and actively encourage eating new and different flavoured food.  Upon arrival we were so warmly welcomed by the staff and owners of the independently run restaurant which can be found in Anglers Court at the top of Marlow High Street.  We ate early evening in the restaurant and started with a drink whilst perusing the menu. One of the drinks we tried was a mocktail, it was delicious and fruity with a real kick of spice at the end of each sip.  The children’s menu gave a great selection and is priced at £6.85 for two courses (starter and main)…

Review // Roly Poly Play – Playdough and Crayons

#AD – #Gifted. Thanks Roly Poly Play for sending me a selection of your playdough and crayons to try out. I sat down with my little on Sunday morning and we got the new playdough and crayons out to play with, it was a lovely creative way to start a weekend morning. We drew pictures and made some Mother’s Day Cards with the crayons and then played with the playdough using the heart shaped cutter and rolling pin that came with the Unicorn set. I also put some of our cutters out for us to use with our creations. The chunky colourful letter crayons I received spelling the word ‘HAPPY’ were great for talking about letters and the word ‘HAPPY’ with my little one. We also loved how the crayons…

Review // The Red Lion, Stoke Green

On Wednesday 6th February 2019 I was invited to the media preview at The Red Lion in Stoke Green, just outside Slough. The pub has recently undergone a refurb and it was great to have a preview of the restaurant prior to it re-opening this Saturday. I was lucky enough to be able to invite a guest and took my husband along and we took the opportunity to have a little date night. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the roaring fires, an amazing gin station and a bar packed full of drink choices. We sat by one of the open fires and were kindly given a selection of canapés which allowed us to sample some of the dishes on the starter menu before heading to the restaurant. The Red…

AD – Review // The Ivy Marlow Garden

On 3rd January 2019 we were invited as a family to dine at The Ivy Marlow Garden in exchange for reviewing our experience. It was great to be able to extend our Christmas and New Year celebrations out a little bit further before getting back into our normal routine again after the festive period.  Upon arrival we were greeted at the front desk, where our coats were taken to the cloakroom, we were then escorted to our table which was beautifully laid out with white table cloths and we were presented with a selection of menus.  We were offered drinks whilst looking at the menus before having the choice specials presented to us by our waiter. The waiting staff were extremely attentive. We ordered our food, there was not a…

AD – Review // The Greene Oak, Oakley Green, Windsor

On Sunday 16th December 2018, my husband, little one and I went to The Greene Oak, Oakley Green, Windsor for Sunday lunch. We were invited to eat at the pub in exchange for this review. The first thing that struck us about the pub was the cosy, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Upon arrival we were seated at our table and given the menu to peruse. Both the children’s and adult’s menu had a great selection on offer and it was good to see a ‘No and Low List’ on the drinks menu. We ordered and our drinks and food arrived promptly. To start I had spiced parsnip and bramley apple soup, which was not only delicious but also perfect for a damp December day and my husband had half a…

AD – Review // The Fir Tree, Norden Farm

On Monday, 26th November 2018, I took my little one to Norden Farm, Maidenhead to see their Christmas production, The Fir Tree written by Tove Jannson. I was kindly given two tickets by Norden Farm in exchange for reviewing the show. After collecting our tickets from the box office there were plenty of members of staff on hand to ask questions to and to direct us to our seats in the theatre. The set was on display on the stage when we arrived, for us this was great as it allowed my little one to ask questions and build anticipation in the lead up to the performance starting. The show was a mixture of live puppetry, music and singing and you soon focused on the puppet characters rather than the…

AD – Review // The Warren, Wokingham

I was invited to take my family to the relaunch press event at The Warren, Wokingham where we were kindly #gifted a meal and drinks for me review and for us to enjoy whilst also having a look at the pubs new refurb. If fact we were extremely honoured as we were the first people to ever dine in the newly decorated restaurant. We arrived at 6.30pm when the pub opened, which was a real treat for my little one as it was approaching normal bedtime, but on this occasion was allowed to stay up for a treat - we were all made extremely welcome.  After getting our drinks from the bar we settled next to one of the roaring open fires (my idea of heaven), where we were then presented…
